What’s New?
I am constantly creating and testing new ideas, new tools, and new material. It doesn’t always work out as something to share, but that is part of the creative process and journey. Many hours are spent exploring and trying before a finished piece of art is seen on the walls. Here is where I’ll show you what’s new. Sometimes it may be a small series, other times it may be a peak in my art journal and not necessarily what makes it into a collection. Some of my favorite pieces have developed in the “in-between” times - the space between when a full collection comes together.
ART EXHIBITION/SOLO SHOW/JUNE 5TH
“THE VALUE OF ONE”
Originating from Latin valere -“to be strong, be of value."
Personal values act as a guide for behavior.
Economic value is a measure of benefit in exchanges.
In art, value is the lightness or darkness of a color.
“The Value of One,” brings together a powerful body of new paintings. Inspired by my art journal using a limited pallet, each piece is an exploration of the value - the lightness or darkness - of one color.
The paintings are built through a process of layering a single color with black and white. Through movement and composition, the paintings invite the viewer into an immersive experience with a color. The breadth of one color, its value, is seen in the use of gestural marks and lines. From dark to light the colorful abstract paintings evoke motion, growth, change, yet at the same time unity and consistency as the core color remains side by side the expanse of its values.
A few pieces from the series can be seen below.
